The candidate is expected to present and implement a coherent plan of research to be conducted in collaboration with other CLGE – BAS staff.

One temporary position (at least postdoctoral level) is available for biologist to carry out studies on functioning, management and restoration of coastal marine zones/coastal wetlands including typical coastal habitats and their biodiversity. The position is ideally suited for an established or a postdoctoral researcher wishing to undertake research based on the facilities of the field stations of the CLGE – BAS. The candidate is expected to present and implement a coherent plan of research to be conducted in collaboration with other CLGE – BAS staff. 

Work position is connected with the field stations of CLGE – BAS, in which studies of coastal marine wetlands are to be carried out. These are the Laboratory of Marine Ecology, Sozopol and Field Station at the Atanasovsko Lake Reserve, Burgas.

The candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent and have published research papers related to wetlands. Good knowledge of English is also required. They should be self-motivated researchers with a track record of collaborative research and international experience. The candidates should be willing to contribute to CLGE – BAS research curriculum (for more details see http://www.ecolab.bas.bg/) and be able to communicate science to a wide audience. 
Relevant post-doctoral experience is highly desirable, as are good organisational and team-working skills. 

Salary will be between €12 000 and €14 400 per annum depending on the position – researcher or senior researcher. The position will reflect qualifications, skills, knowledge and achievements. The selected candidate will be employed initially for 1 year, with a possibility to extend his/her contract with further 12 months. 

The position is available from 18th January 2010.

  • Overall purpose of the jobs

To provide expert research output in functioning, management and restoration of wetlands (coastal marine zones) and their biodiversity as an independent CLGE – BASresearcher and in collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Biodiversity, Department of Bioindication and Environmental Risk and Department of Functional Ecology.
